Pomes in a Pail: Music

9. OPEN BOOK

(Jenny/Snow. Singer: Rachel Cerrone)

As pretty a song as you'll hear!
I shan’t compose a sonnet
’Cuz, doggonnit, I can’t rhyme
I’ll never write a novel
’Cuz, my word, there isn’t time

I’ve no head for spinning lyrics
To the jingles on TV
And how to weave a thriller
Is a mystery to me

I couldn’t pen a valentine
To lay my feelings bare
If I tried to write a sermon
Lord, I would not have a prayer

I can not limn a limerick
No, I could not scribe a speech
Odes and essays are beyond me
Epic tales are out of reach

Yet every day, I fill a page
With drama, jest and strife
As I write another chapter
In this story I call life.
